My name is Anneleise McEvoy. This is my second year at Washburn. I picked Washburn because it is about 10 minutes away from my parents house. Topeka has always been home for me. My mom also went to Washburn. I recently switched my major from social work to mass media public relations this year. I love to help people but I decided that social work wasn’t my calling. I chose mass media because I am a people person, I have my own blog, and I enjoy social media.
One of the things I enjoy about Washburn is the small community. Unlike other colleges, I feel like I am getting the full academic experience. I feel as if I am not just a number, I am a name. In addition to what Washburn has provided me academically, I am very involved socially around campus as well. I highly suggest anyone to join greek life. It’s a great way to get involved. I am also a Campus Activity Board program director, so I help with the events that come to campus such as the magicians and different programs. One big event that is coming up on campus would be the Plain White T’s concert the day after family day.
